It’s really a celebration of arts and culture,” Tickles said. “It’s great to see the community come here and just hang out at the museum.”
As its last concert of the semester, ADEKU performed traditional African songs called Fankani, Kuku and Konowulen that have specific stories and cultural purposes behind them. Kuku, from Guinea, is mainly played for parties that involve lots of dancing. The song was fast-paced and upbeat, and the band got the audience to interact. “The Spencer Museum of Art has invited us back every year,” said Kimberly Simonetti, a social media manager of ADEKU.
